First of all, thanks to Geetanjali for showing us the path of one more treasure near Bangalore. Anekal Lake is a big lake and almost every variety of water bird is available at its edge.
Hoping to see a Post by Sushil soon.
First of all, when we reached we had the same expression .. oh same water birds, but I guess this lake give a better chance to explore water birds despite of the fact that water level was quite less.
Here goes some kingfishers, except white throated kingfisher, water is must for other two.
Its a wow Lake where almost every water bird were visible. I loved to see Moorhen, Coot and Stilt. A lovely road side view to the lake, you keep on watching the birds and people will unnecessarily keep on doing “ppppp ppp pp pp ” ð . Some pictures here:
We saw one Moorhen and Sandpiper searching the prey very deeply into the water.
First time shot of Jacana :). It was looking like a lovely bird, I wish to see her more closely.
Not missing the field birds too. Here goes Parakeet, Barbet, Bulbul and some fire bugs.
Lot of fish were died at the side of the lake, don’t know the reason but neither human nor birds were interested in that.
And finally the bird of prey, a majestic black kite in flight. There was lot of “Birds of Prey” every time I saw from my lens to upside, I wished to have other than black kite but .. .. ..

So true about that ” PPPPPPP” …..its the same story around all the lakes here..:-(….Nice write up…and it was really nice to have you all around..:-)
many times, I think why we are so bad in driving and so harsh .. but I guess this is how people grown up in city and rather than using brake they prefer to use horn.
Thanks Geetanjali for visiting the blog
Nice pics Vaibhav ji ð
Thanks Prathima.
I’m laughing my head off at the “pppppp” remark! Great photos, I haven’t seen anyone else posting the pics of the Bronze-winged Jacanas! ð
And thanks for pulling me out of the mud!
Welcome Deepa. I don’t know but traffic is making us more irritated everyday. I guess there were few Jacana’s… ð

thank you Ramesh. Pleased with your response.
Dear sir ,
Congrats for the very good work. can you share the camera details pl.
nagaraja
Thank you. Sure, anytime.
Camera Body: Canon 550D, somewhere people call it rebel XSi2
Camera Lens: 400 mm 5.6 f Non-IS lens.
If you are looking to buy lens, I will suggest you to go for higher mm as it doesn’t create panic for birds and you can easily get the habitat shot.
Excellent post sir. You have covered all the birds with nice writeuppppppp ppp ppppp … There is absolutely no need for me to put another post on this ð apart from the fact that I am very very late.
great snaps …..one small correction …the bronze winged jacana snap …is of a pheasant tailed jacana …. a rarer wader ….so great luck ……
Hi, enjoyed going through your photo log. The pics are really good. But I believe the 2 Jacana pics are of the same bird – Pheasant Tailed. Bronze winged are darker in color & dont have a white neck.
Thanks for the correction..
Hi, Can yo please provide the route towards this lake from may be electronic city Bangalore.
Anekal Lake(12°43â12âģN 77°41â24âģE) … I can tell you from Bannerghatta road. Keep going -> Cross Jigani -> 7 km ahead, you will see a huge lake at right hand side, that’s anekal lake.
Just put that coordinate on wikimapia or maps.google.com ..
