It was a Saturday and instead of going for birding, I went for a workshop called Kabaad se Jugaad, organized by Ashoka Bangalore Office. Wishal Singh, a travelling artist from Udaypur was taking this workshop. More details on the workshop can be found at the following links, while I’ll take you though how the workshop went:

The workshop was supposed to start at 10:00Am, however we started this activity much before that. Soon more people started joining, and the really liked the mix we had. College going students, kids from school, their teachers, IT professionals and many more. Finally once everyone was in the room it was decided to collect all the paper rolls which we made. Some managed to make ony 1 while some managed to make more than 25 rolls.

In the mean while I saw some kids testing the strength of the rolls by hitting them selves by a bunch of rolls and were surprised 🙂

After this was an intorduction round, post which we were asked to get our trash (we were asked to get our own trash) and most of us were out there with our trash. We were asked to create something which we really need, which is useful and should work. Wishal was there to help us out by there was not hand holding done. We were not told what to make, however since Wishal came there a day before, the along with people from Ashoka already made some materials our of trash.

We assembeled together to see everyones finished product. It was an amazing experience for me. More than learning the actual kabaad se jugaad art, I get to know different facets of waste, its management, the need of need. I had some very interesting conversations with people out there.

It was worth attending this Kabaad se Jugaad worksho. Thanks to Wishall Sing and Ashoka Bangalore!

I took a lots of photographs during the workshop. Here’s the album.
