Ganesha made by the kids

Ganesha made by the kids

Lets plan to have a Green Ganesha Habba this year and coming years. Few steps which can be taken by the individuals:

1. If you are buying a Ganesha idol, try buying eco friendly Ganesha. Please buy clay idols to prevent pollution caused by painted idols. It can be bought at BEML Layout Entrance near Reliance Fresh/Lakme Beauty Parlour in Brookefield. The sale is there till 31st August. Or Contact AnilKumar BVN(09880994182)/Kamalnath(09886642073)/Pullarao(09886734321). Read more info here .

2. If you like playing with clay, you can try and make the clay Ganesha yourself at home. ClayStation (Refer last post) is organizing workshops for making clay Ganesha till 31st August. The clays can be baught at their center or Mother Earth.

In an attempt to have a Greener Ganesha Habba this year and for future, Pankhudi Bangalore organized a EcoFriendly Clay Ganesha Idol Making Event for kids at Desire Society. Lets spread the word among the kids and elders so that we have our contribution in saving the Nature.

Few of us had attended the workshop at Clay Station for the Ganesha idol making workshop. We got the red clay which can naturally dry from Clay Station. The kids were told the meaning of Ecofriendly.

We started giving them step-by-step instructions to make the basic structure. But at point we observed that they needed no instructions and all of them came up with their own creativity and created really nice and wonderful idols. Everyone had a unique Ganesha – Modern Ganesha, Goggled Ganesha, Ganesha with Gowri, Ganesha with rat, Ganesha with mobile and a cap, Ganesha decorated with rice grains, Ganesha decorated with small leaves.

It was really amazing to see the kids and volunteers coming up with innovative Ganesha. All of us had fun. So just give a try to make your own Ganesha. You just need clay, water, your hands and your creativity.

The real reason for making any idols with clay was to enhance the water retaining capacity of the lake/tanks etc so that they this clay embeds in the bed of the lake and enhances the water quantity . However when this was abused and  idols were made from harmful substances lead to the abuse of the real philosophy of making idols and lead to lakes or environment degradation. Hope this knowledge of making idols with clay re-emerges on wider scale. Spread the message.
